*GDI- Uganda Sponsor a Child*

One of our central missions at GDI-Uganda is to provide quality education for the orphans and other vulnerable children of Northern Uganda who were victims of the 21 year war. We do so by identifying needy children; carrying out child and household vulnerability assessment and enrolling the neediest child – at no cost.

Age: 9 Years, Gender: Male, Grade/Class: Primary 2, Parental Status: Total Orphan.

My name is Ogwal Apollo. I came to Good Friends Primary School in 2016 after losing both of my parents. At School the subject I most enjoy is mathematics because I like solving problems. Outside of School, I like playing football and watching my favorite team, Arsenal unfortunately we don’t have a TV Screen nor Internet facilities at our Orphanage. When I grow up I want to be a Secondary School Mathematics teacher. I lack clothing, beds and beddings, enough dietary foods, medical care and many things.

Age: 12 Years, Gender: Male, Grade/Class: Primary 3, Parental Status: Total Orphan.

My name is Ogwang Abel. My favorite subject in school is Literacy 1, which combines science and social studies. When I grow up I want to be a Literacy 1 teacher because I like to help people learn new things. In my free time I like to read and play with my friends.

Hi, my name is Achen Penina. I want to be a nurse when I get older because I love helping people. While I was a child headed family, I learned how to take care of my two younger brothers and this has made me good at caretaking. My favorite subject in school is science because I like to learn about personal hygiene. For fun I like to read and play netball.

Age: 8 Years, Gender: Male, Grade/Class: Kindergarten 2, Parental Status: Total Orphan.

My name is Okello Jacky. I lost my parents shortly after I was born. I can’t tell the face of my Mom and Dad. I was raised up by my old grandmother who didn’t have any source of income. I lived with her together with other brother and sister until when GDI-Uganda identified me and brought me to this Orphanage at 6 years. I am in a lower class than most children of my age because I was born with a mental handicap. Secondly, my grandmother couldn’t afford to send me to School. My favorite subject in school is English. In my free time I like to sing and play football. When I grow up I want to be a doctor so I can help people.

Age: 11 Years, Gender: Female, Grade/Class: Primary 4, Parental Status: Total Orphan.

Hi, my name is Akello Robina. I lost my parents at tender age and survived under the care of my handicap grandmother sleeping in a leaking grass thatch house and starving of food with no education. Thank God, GDI-Uganda embraced me among many other needy children. My favorite subject in school is science. I like it because I am good at it and make good grades. I have lots of hobbies, like reading, doing track and field, and listening to music. I really like it here at school because I like to read. When I’m older I want to be a nurse so I can take care of the sick.
